My Class at Ivy Thimble Quilt Shop

What a whirlwind weekend!  What an extremely nice group of quilters!  I had a great time!!!

I flew in a very bumpy flight on Thursday.  Friday morning I was whisked away to the Ivy Thimble Quilt & Gift Shop.  The shop is in an old train station.  How cool is that?  Trust me, its cool!  My lecture was at 1:00 so I had plenty of time to set up and meet the staff.  Everyone was so nice and very helpful.  My lecture was really three different lectures boiled into one.  I spoke about antique doll quilts, about Quilts Remembered quilt patterns and how I got to have a pattern company started and then demos on tools of the trade.  There were lots of questions and tons of different tools for people to take home.  The shop sold out of just about every one of them!

All day Saturday I taught Laura’s 1870 Cradle Quilt.  The class went smoothly just like clockwork.  My 12 students worked from the second they sat down.  They got right down to business and didn’t stop until lunch.  For lunch, Trish the shop owner, brought in a wonderful array of wraps and desserts for everyone!  They were YUMMY!  Thanks Trish!!!  After lunch they worked even harder to get all the shapes done for the quilt.  It is too bad we could sew into the night but alas I had to go home.  My flight was quiet…only 11 out of approx. 126 seats were taken.  I even got to sit in 1^st class…but so did half the rest of the passengers!  Hahahaha!!!

Thanks Trish and staff at the Ivy Thimble Quilt shop AND a special thanks to my great students.  I hope to be hearing from you soon and seeing their finished Quilts Remembered quilts.

Ready…Set…Pack!

There is still so much left to do to get ready.  (I shouldn't take this time to write.) 

My lecture will cover several topics including a few demos using some of my favorite tools.  We are lucky as quilters; there are so many tools available.  But, sometimes because there are so many, we get confused to which ones will do the best job for us.  I always tell my beginner students, “It is just what you get used to”.  In fact, starting with the best tools just makes life easier.  You can visit my website, www.QuiltsRemembered.com to view my ‘tools’ page and see some of my favorites.

My To-Do List

So what to pack…Antique doll quilts, class quilt, patterns, pattern cover quilts, magazine quilts, demo boards, tools, computer, and lecture notes (I’d better remember to pack my clothes too!)  Crud…I just checked the weather page and it looks like rain…better remember my umbrella and rain jacket.  I am always so afraid I will forget something.  IT IS GOOD TO HAVE A LIST.    Speaking of lists, my to-do list is beginning to look more manageable. I am actually crossing things off!!!

Just the start of packing...Those quilts take up so much room...good thing they are small!

See what 16 different designers have been working on for months.  This quilt will be a Spring Quilt Market.  See it in person ... just go to the Andover Fabrics booth...it is a wonderful quilt...and your quilt shop could win it.

The rules are simple.  A shop owner/buyer must visit all 16 designer booths, have their passport stamped by the designer and once the passport is complete - just drop it in the contest box in the Andover Fabric booth.  Simple right?

16 Designers One Quilt!

Legacy Sampler Quilt

Spring Quilt Market is fast approaching and do I have a special surprise for you.  I guess I shouldn't say 'I' because there are 16 different designers that are making this event happen.  I feel very lucky to have be part of this event.  My block (Quilts Remembered) is located in the top right corner.

The "Kansas City March" is a booth hop and it all happens at the upcoming Spring Quilt Market.  While shopping at market, store owners, will need to visit all 16 of our designers' booths.  Each booth will stamp a card found in their buyers' guide.  Once the card is full just drop it into the entry box locate in the Andover Fabrics booth and cross your fingers.

The grand prize is the Legacy Sampler Quilt!  There are lots of other prizes too such as fabric bundles, pattern bundles, pattern bundles, books and more!  Best of all...each shop completing their card will be given access to the patterns -FREE!  That's right a totally free block of the month for your customers.

New Website...changes!

This is the time of year for changes.  I am sitting in my family room thinking, no juggling all of my thoughts.  That is a difficult feat at the moment because the roofers are pounding so much I can hardly stand it. 

It is October and that means pumpkins, falling leaves, gardens going to seed and Quilt Market.  With Quilt Market approaching in 2 weeks there are so many things to do.   I shouldn’t take the time to write.  I am finishing up the new patterns; there are three.  They are a little larger than my usual but I think they turned out well.  I hope you will like them.  I won’t post a picture yet, not until market is here…very soon.

My big news is I have a new website!.   Please check it out and tell me what you think.  You will see lots of pages with patterns, classes, lectures, and products.  There is also a show and tell page with quilts – of course.  Make sure you sign up for email alerts.  If you have made one of my patterns; I would love to include a picture of it.  Just send me a good shot and I will be happy to post it.  If you are with a quilt shop, make sure when you send the picture, you let me know if there is a kit available.  I will include that information too.  I will also link the picture with your website - make sure I have the address.  www.QuiltsRemembered.com

House Tour - "Quilted Spaces"

House Tour…

Last Friday I went on a house tour called "Quilted Spaces".  Eagle Creek Quilt Shop in Shakopee, MN was the hosting shop.  I stopped at the shop and picked up my map to the house and I was off.  It was just a short drive; I parked and walked up to the house.  That is where the ‘quilt’ decorating began.  I have never seen a quilt design on a garage door before but there they were.  I would equate it to ‘barn’ quilts.  The house was lovely.  There were several quilts in every room.  It was tastefully decorated in every way.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed the tour.

Almost Done...

Little Women Club is almost done.  We have one more Jo Morton design left and then a special design will round off this session of our class.  It has been a pleasure, as always, to teach this class.  I have wonderful ‘little women’ in the class.  I hope that they have good time over the last few months (snow storms & all) and have learned a trick or two.
